I'm On a boat and Off the market

Sailing is apparently a sport. A sport where you are actually sore from sitting and jumping off the boat, holding on for dear life, cuts, bruise, scratches, and of course slamming down cocktails. I felt like I had the work out of a life time after the first day of sailing, and I did actually sail the damn boat!! I don't really remember all of the cruise but I know it certainly is no easy task, there are ropes and devices, and you have to really pay attention to everything.. there really isn't dull or boring moment when the wind is blowing. After an absolutely amazing, fantastic, fun, debaucherous weekend at Lake McConaughy I thought it would be in my best interest to get my lazy derrière back into nature and go on a hike.

So as usual I headed South to Chataqua park where I normally do a 4-7 mile loop depending on the weather and of course my mental/physical state on that day. My condition was tired but I mustered up the mental strength to drive there and get out my car. I trudged along and after about mile 2 I looked up and noticed I was in a stare off with a brown bear about 15 feet away from me. I froze and pretended to be dead standing up. One thing to know about me is that I am terrified of wild life, you never know what they are going to do and they are usually always animals that can probably kill you, for example Im really scared of horses.
beast

After about 39.6 seconds the little bear run off but I had a creeping suspicion that the mama bear was somewhere close so I turned right around and gingerly/feverishly, looking back every few seconds to make sure I wasn't going to be pummeled to my death by the mama bear, went back to my car. The other little tid bit is that for some crazy, wild, insane reason I thought that bears were attracted to women while OTR.. Ill you figure that one out if you don't know what it means. So I decided to do a little research:

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll...........................
I'm officially un-single/off the market once again my friends!
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.... I'm pretty happy about it!
After spending many hours concocting exciting cocktails, motorcycling into the sunset, pooling, sailing, hiking, cliff diving, and bopping around the bubble it became inevitable that we were in fact a couple, dating, together, boyfren & girlfren. He's awesome and hot and amazing and we have so so so so much fun together. Yay!

Stopping to breathe again

The past few months have been fantastic!! I've been really enjoying the shit out of my life.  I've been loving every minute of the summer and taking in lots of sunshine through my new hobby known as "pooling." I have manifested a local pool about 5 blocks away from my house. My new/old friend gave me the key to his pool one day and of course I managed not only to lock myself out but also IN the pool area that is completely fenced in with a key lock to get in and out of the pool.  Due to the fact that I some how managed to lose the key (so not like me ;) I was left to wait within the confines of the pool for 2 hours waiting for someone to come to my rescue. I asked other people to help me escape with their key without success while I continued to "pool," I guess it could have been worse and with my climbing skills I'm sure I could have mustered up the strength to climb my way out of their but... I didn't.

I have also come to the realization that I need to get out and start traveling again so I'm going to Nebraska! Ha! This is not a lie.
I have heard of this far away land only once before.. it's is apparently a beautiful place known as Lake McConnaughy.
http://www.ilovelakemac.com/
It is infested with redneck hillbillys and boats and eagle/American flag tee-shirts and fun exciting white sandy beach front. I'm going with a friend that has a great little sailboat for a long weekend to mingle with the local folk and get out of town and drink beer out of coozies (also my new fav thang.)

The following weekend I am jet setting out to the city of angels. La La BAM! The land of the beautiful. I'm FINALLY going to meet my most favoritest dj, Mr. Lee Foss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's doing a little gig at the swankster Standard Hotel http://www.standardhotels.com/hollywood?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=the+standard+sunset&utm_campaign=ABZ03_HW_Brand&gclid=CKb3ro_WxrECFeUBQAodCWMA9Qand I cant wait to listen to some pretty, pretty amazing djs at some fun parties while I'm there and see the ocean again. Ya Braski!

So my happiness levels have been at an all time sky-rocketed high.. like maybe happier than I've been in a really long time.. Annnnnnd I was just gifted these puppies to go along with my new pooling hobby and nearly freaked out and shat a unicorn!!!!!!!! Basically I'm going to be the most fly person at the pool from this day until forever with my new Lionel Coozies!

And of course to end all of this fun. I just recently found out that my brother who has been through many bumps in the road through his 26 years is about to start a radiation treatment to help prevent the growth of a brain tumor that he was diagnosed with several years ago. His doctors were not expecting the growth to happen as quickly as it has so we are going to try to slow the process and get this thing kicked to curb. FUCK YOU BRAIN TUMOR!! Sending all my loving energy through the breezes to my little bra! xoxox

Le New-ness

Well things have have been tugging along here in Boulder. Summer is rapidly on the approach and the days are definitely longer.
I have been taking a little step away from climbing and spending my third eye mindset on yoga and a tending to a new gypsy warrior spiritual journey. I've getting my flexy stretch on usually about three times a week these days which has been fun considering they hold yoga classes during my lunch break at work. I've been picking up on the yogi lingo and even learned a new pose today known as the Lion. This could possibly be the most ridiculous pose... ever, period.

This is not a joke.. now please envision yourself in a room full of wacky Boulderite yogis all doing this in a mirror.. it seriously took absolutely everything within my being to not burst out laughing. Usually during these moments, which tend to happen quite frequently because I laugh at everything, I have to take a very deep breath or just put myself into child pose and laugh very quietly.

Don't get me wrong I'm certainly not about to give up all my worldly possessions and start wearing hemp clothing or anything like that but it is really nice to take a little break and not work so fucking hard at crimping the shit out of something and being soooo frustrated after falling on the same thing over and over again for most of the day.

So yoga is fun.. I dig it. And I think it helps with my mental disarray.

Speaking of mental disarray, I have been contemplating make a new step with my new found professional life. I'm thinking of actually leaving this beautiful little bubble and spreading my wings to another part of the country. In advertising people are constantly coming and going. The doors are ever evolving and it is extremely rare if not completely unheard of for an individual to stay at one agency for longer than a year. So I have been pitter-pondering on making the big leap to Los Angeles or Austin.

Austin
LA

Many moons ago I had the idea that I would fit perfectly in California. I still think that I could make it work and I think that living in LA would certainly be a new venture in and of itself. The one thing that really draws me to the city of angels is being close to ocean.. maybe being able to surf on a somewhat consistent basis, being close to Bishop and being able to make many weekend trips to the beautiful buttermilks, and the big plus here would be that the company that I work for would pay for my moving expenses if I transfer to the office out there.. sooooo... that is that.

Option dos. Austin on the other hand may be a little more "me." I mean, I'm weird, I like abnormal things, I like roller derby and music and rock climbing and Austin has that. Also, many moons ago, I had the dream of buying an RV and high tailing it to Austin to pursue my dream of becoming a roller derby girl, all 118 lbs of me on roller skates and a helmet and a mouth guard and a bad ass nick name like Nikki-AnnihilateHer, Nikvicious, NikoTina Turner, or something sick like that. If you want to generate your own roller derby name just for fun check out this little website and fill in the blanks and have yourself a new little name to carry around with you while smashing bitches around in a rink:

So Austin is another little place that I am considering making a nest. I'm going to mull this over for the next three months and make a few long weekend visits to both places and make a decision soon.

And than it is also my birthday. ugh. I hate my birthday. Every year without fail I cry. Yes, yes, I am so fucking cliche that I actually do cry on my birthday because I want to. I don't know what it is. Maybe its just part of being one year older that makes me weep, or the thought that I had envisioned myself in a different place in my life at a specific age? I don't know what it is but this year I'm striving to make it through dry eyed. I'm having a little gemini jamboree with 100 of my friends and acquaintances at a little happy hour gig at Aji and than bopping around all over the infamous Pearl Street aka my second home. It should be fun and I'm actually somewhat looking forward to being the big 2-9. One more year before I actually need to turn in the towel and be a real adult I guess. Weirdness..

Lifestyle Flip Kick Ninja Slap! Ka - Cha!

Welllll welll welll.. I am a day-jobber once again.
I have officially switched my hours of operation from "lady of the night" to a full-time 8 to 5'er. It has been a REAL adjustment to say the least but I prepared for it. I partied my heart out in preparation for full-time sobriety which was fun but I actually have come to enjoy waking up with the birds in the morning, going to bed early, takin' a lunch break, working out with everyone and their second cousin in the gym at 5:30 and doing the normal day-job activities.. weird.. I thought I would never say that.

Crispin Porter + Bugusky is my rehab. I feel as though my brain finally functions again, and my body is back in a normal bee-line.  I'm working with and amongst some of the most innovative and intelligent folks in the biz and I'm truly inspired by the work that has come out the doors of this little 500 person work shop located in Funbarrel, Colorado.

This company is designed to build cool, catchy, and creative shit and I honestly cannot believe that I actually work here. It's a huge building with endless coffee, snacks, meetings, phone calls, and internet connection. My co-workers roller skate and ride their bikes around the lobby, everyone brings their dogs to work with them, and everyone is buzzing with energy and ideas and it's really sumpthin to witness the stuff that goes down here.

I have put my "career" on hold for several years while I enjoyed the crap out of my life and figured out what I really wanted to do and now I feel like I have finally made the gradual crawl into starting to evolve as a professional in the advertising world. Pretty freakin exciting stuff I think??? I mean I have health insurance and a 401k now so I guess you can push me down the stairs and I can go see a doctor and I can also retire one day?? WTF happened to me??

So life is kinda rad at the moment. I still pour a little liquor into glasses for drunkies a few nights a week to stay fresh and in the mix and to remind myself that I'm not ready to retire just yet! I mean c'mon son!!

I think that I also may finally be making a dj debut with my left Tat, Danielle aka Tatty! We have a full on 80's-90's jam session planned for an upcoming event at The Goose Bar in Boulder, Co.. Yes, there will be thong-a-tards, there will be leg warmers, there will be high-top sneakers, there will be sassy teased, crimped hair, and yes, shit is going to be super weird.. stay tuned and I'll keep y'all abreast.

After a looooong weekend with lots of fun activities and watching True Romance several times, Danielle and I decided that we are going to Vegas with all the rascals.. I'm super excited to finally get out of this little bubble, even for a weekend, and jus chill by a pool and drink super expensive cocktails and get snooki-ed. I'm just really hoping that we all don't get arrested.. at least at the same time.

And finally as my closing thought and picture that I have fallen in love with:

 AMEN!!

Nailed It!!!!!!!

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that I'm embarking on the path of being a full blown adult with health benefits!
I am beyond ecstatic! I am always weary of the unknown and nervous of changing up my carefree lifestyle, giving up my daily work outs and my free time, but I know that this is a huge step in the right direction for me and I'm excited to see where it takes me.

Tonight I am doing a fashion show for a local artist clothing and art shop in Denver known as Megafauna. I will rocking out some sicky gnar gnar spring fashion gear high lighting the massive cut that I just got on my knee last week after trying to "Carpour" aka Parkour off of a car (not the brightest idea if aren't a trained Russian professional.) Megafauna is similar to RVCA but all local artists from the Front Range area with a vast amount of product ranging from jewelry, vintage attire, t-shirts, sweat shirts, posters, etc. They are also huge supporters of local events such as FeedDenver and other non-profit organizations.

Check 'em: http: http://www.megafaunastore.com/
Like 'em Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MegaFaunaStore

I was also thoroughly touched by this viral video that I watched today. I know that Africa has been a struggling country for centuries and I have seen many documentaries about the various struggles but this is something that really tugged on my heart strings and made me want to get involved in any way, shape,  and form. Please watch and spend a few minutes to send this to as many people as you know as it is pertinent is spreading the message to as many people as humanly possible to put a stop to terrible human being.

I also stumbled upon on the most inspirational people in the fitness world this morning and I have started a 30 day challenge to get my abdominals cranking and looking like this stunning chica!

Check out her fitness website http://www.bodyrock.tv/category/bodyrockers/
I love the informative instructional videos and her accent and Hot Damn I want to look like her! I'll check back with y'all in 30 days and let you know how it goes :)

Cheers til next time my friends!! xoxox

Keeps getting better

I didn't think that I could get any happier than I have been over the past month. I feel like everything is really falling into place better than I could have expected. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing human beings, I'm so fortunate that I have so much fun every single day, and I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. I really couldn't ask for more.

When I first moved to Boulder in 2007 I had a difficult time adjusting. I had no friends, no family, no connections for jobs, I had never lived on my own, and I was scared.. to say the least I thought about packing it in and moving back to Connecticut many times. But I didn't, and thank dog I didn't, I stuck it out and I'm so, so glad that I did.

Things have been moving along well with Verve. I love the flexibility of the job and I love everything about the product and the company as a whole. It's been great to actually use my brain a bit and start using some of my college degree finally!! I've been making some fantastical progress on revamping the website, organizing some photo shoots, and putting on an awesome fashion show for April 5th!

I also have an interview with a HUUUUUUUGE company known as Crispin Porter + Bugusky that I am so excited about I feel like I could start doing Parkour. If you haven't heard of them than you may have been conked out under a glacier in Antarctica for the past 22 years?

Either way check 'em out and click it: http://www.cpbgroup.com/

Crossing my fingers, toes, and eyes that I can pull this one off and start moving into the direction of becoming a full blown adult.... haha or at least try.

Although I have once AGAIN had to put my travel plans on hold I know everything happens for a reason and I will someday it will happen, someone once told me; "Don't ever expect anything because you'll end up being disappointed." So I'm not :)

Signing off and leaving you with a link to my new fav jam of all times:
